The Future in Florida is Still Light, Bright and Rustic
After a great trip to a somewhat remote development called Palmetto Bluff, I am rethinking style and livability. The vibe of this Bluffton, South Carolina area is one of the most stunning, organic, back-to-nature communities I have experienced.
All the home's exteriors are basically in the white family. Far from boring, the neighborhood takes a backstage to the environment and nature. The conservancy makes sure that neither the home-building process or the finished product interferes with the health of the water and every living tree, plant and animal that lives there.
Everyone seems unhurried and walking, biking or golf carting around.... sometimes swinging on the porch.
The gorgeous Montage Hotel anchors the development. One of the neighborhood's restaurants comes with its own full-sized bowling alley, not to mention pool tables and other options for the game enthusiast. If you go, be sure to visit the Octagon Bar in the hotel and the little
chapel not far away. The pews are made from wood taken from the 9/11 wreakage.
The driveways are designed to let water flow into the ground to prevent runoff to pollute the creeks and waterways.
Despite the rustic exterior styling, the interiors include every luxury touch and amenity you could wish for and all the drama of modern design.
The shopping areas not far away include Hilton Head Island and Savannah, GA. I am pictured here with Dennis, my cute hubby of 4 years.
