What 3 questions does your website need to answer... fast?

We live at a wonderful time for home-based businesses. Frankly, the world will never fully return to it’s pre-Covid state. Web presence is more crucial than ever. Not that long ago, you needed to own or rent a brick and mortar store to be competitive in a business. Now, your website is your store. It’s your identity. It’s you!!

Your website reaches out into cyberspace and broadcasts your special qualities to the waiting world, 24/7. How wonderful is that!!

The only drawback… you might not be sending the right message to the people who need your services. Is that possible?

Before I had my current website recreated, my web designer had to sit me down and tell me the painful truth… that my site was “a beautiful mess .”

I was shocked and a bit insulted. I loved my old site. It WAS beautiful but not easy to navigate. Just like a homeowner, I was not objective about my site. Web design has evolved and people tend to be less patient. They are not willing to search very long for information.

You must be able to answer the following questions in the first few seconds...

  • What is the purpose of your website?
  • Why are you different or better than competition?
  • What do you want them to do?

You have about 3 to 5 seconds to grab their attention. Confused people leave quickly. Remember these things:

  • You do not want to use a crazy text or bright colored background.
  • Put the Nav Bar on the top or left.
  • Use common titles and page names.
  • Each page should be formatted the same with the consistent fonts.
  • Too much “flash” can be unprofessional.

A website is like a garden that needs constant upkeep and attention. The content needs to stay fresh. People need a reason to keep coming back. A blog and Facebook page will keep you in the 21st century.

My new site attracts students from all over the US and the world, as far away as Canada and Brazil. My responses have more than tripled.

Some of my favorite sites:

Transformations Grad www.dwellstaging.com

Transformations Grad www.limedoordecor.com

Does your site need a makeover? Is it an ugly duckling that could be a beautiful swan? Do you need a professional opinion? Call for an evaluation asap.
